v0.2.0 — Now available for macOS, Windows & Linux

The LaTeX editor that
doesn't assume
you know LaTeX

Write naturally. Press Ctrl+Tab. Get publication-quality documents. Flow is the bridge between your ideas and professional typesetting.

Available for

You've been told LaTeX makes beautiful documents.

You opened Overleaf and stared at \documentclass for ten minutes.

You closed the tab.

Flow is for that moment.

Pick a template. Press Ctrl+Tab. Start writing.

Flow always knows where to go next.

Flow knows where to go

Flow detects every fillable region in your template. Press Ctrl+Tab to flow through them. Never hunt for where to type.

Everything you need,
nothing you don't

Designed for writers, not power users. Every feature earns its place.

Ghost Suggestions

A local AI watches your context and offers completions as dimmed text. Press Tab to accept, or keep typing to ignore. You stay in control.

Visual Layers

Template scaffolding is dimmed. Your content shines at full brightness. At a glance, you always know what's yours and what's structure.

Live Preview

See your PDF update as you write. Click on the PDF to jump to that line in source. SyncTeX integration means zero guessing.

Writing Nudges

Subtle gutter markers flag passive voice, weak openings, and missing metrics. Not grammar police—a thoughtful writing partner.

Markdown Import

Paste Markdown, get LaTeX. Pandoc WASM converts your existing writing into a fillable template. The fastest on-ramp to professional typesetting.

Local-First, Private

No account. No cloud. Your documents live on your machine. Even the AI can run locally with GGUF models. Total privacy.

Built on solid ground

A desktop-native application with a layered, thoughtful architecture.

Editor CodeMirror 6 with 20+ custom extensions CM6
Fillables Template-aware field detection Flow Engine
AI Cloud + local LLM with streaming llama.cpp
Compiler Bundled Tectonic for zero-config builds Tectonic
Runtime Electron + React + TypeScript Electron 33
State Zustand with persistent local storage Zustand 5

Flow is a desktop-native application built with Electron 33, React 19, and TypeScript. The editor is powered by CodeMirror 6, extended with 20+ custom plugins for fillable detection, ghost suggestions, visual layers, and writing nudges.

Flow reads your template and knows what needs filling in. It understands your document structure and identifies exactly where you should type, so you can focus on writing instead of figuring out LaTeX syntax.

LaTeX compilation is handled by Tectonic, bundled per-platform so users never install TeX. AI features support cloud providers (Claude, GPT, Gemini) and local models via llama.cpp—your choice, your data.

Principles, not features

Every decision in Flow traces back to a small set of beliefs.

We know your template

Flow reads your template and knows what needs filling in. One shortcut takes you where you need to go next. No menus, no searching.

Show, don't hide

LaTeX is visible. You see the real syntax. Learning happens through exposure, not through abstraction.

Help, don't take over

Suggestions assist. You decide. The AI is a quiet apprentice, not an overzealous coauthor.

Local-first, always

No account. No cloud dependency. No friction. Open the app and start writing. Your data stays yours.

Curated over comprehensive

30 great templates beat 3,000 mediocre ones. Every feature earns its place through genuine usefulness.

You'll learn LaTeX
without trying to

There's no "learning mode." You just use Flow, and one day you realize you're writing LaTeX.

Week 1

Flow through templates

Pick a template. Press Ctrl+Tab to fill in each field. Accept ghost suggestions. Get your first PDF in under 5 minutes.

Week 2

Add your first command

You type \textbf{important} because you saw it in the template. It works. Bold text. You just wrote LaTeX.

Week 3

Modify the template

You add a section the template didn't have. You rearrange content. The structure makes sense now.

Month 2

You're a LaTeX author

You write custom LaTeX confidently. You modify templates freely. You might even start from a blank document.

Between Word and Overleaf

Better output than Word. Lower barrier than Overleaf.
Flow fills the gap for people who want professional documents without the steep learning curve.
